I've been in Montreal for a while now and I can't boast many live venues...but the Yellow Door has been important in my performance experience. I was caught on tape, part of a TV McGill feature on an opening night there - here it is for you (why do I look like such a 'yuppie'!?).

I also share a 'new' instrumental piece captured at the Yellow Door last month.

There was a time when I thought singing and playing at the same time was one of the great mysteries of life. Then Johanna came along, a first song I wrote on a flash of inspiration. The rest just evolved from that moment. Here is Johanna, a raw home recording part of a little session to produce a draft demo.

My second public appearance in Montreal was less than a success, but it was still a good time. It was the closing event of the Jazz festival on that day, so there was not many ears at our show. I was sharing the scene with Mike McDonald and other fine musicians and I was even graced by Dog's friendly presence. You can hear him jiggling around in this live lo-fi recording of 'Squall'.

While in Ottawa, I started a cooperation in music with Natalie Bartosek to explore something other than my purely instrumental sound. We were ambitious at first but when I moved away, our little project kind of fizzled.

We had time to record a few songs and I decided to put them up here, since I don't know when and if we will work on this project again.

The first song we made together is 'Stuck in a Moment' and this was followed by 'Crossroads', two songs in alternate guitar tunings. 'Empty' is basically a recycled song. I just love what Natalie did with my 'La Ballade du Voyageur' song. I hope you enjoy this different material.

I held a little CD launch on Dec 7 at the Restigouche Art Gallery on December 7th 2003. The little show attracted a few people even with the snowstorm raging outside and it wa all taped in crappy quality for that genuine fan-grab feel. Right, so I picked a song for you to sample. If by any chance someone would be interested in the whole show, I'm sure something could be done...
Watching Us From Above [first recording]

Since the recording process was mostly an individual endeavor, I learned much as I went along. Consequently, I ended up re-recording the whole 'Progression' album for better quality except the last song. 'Watching us from Above' is one of those songs that is always a bit different every time Marc and I play it. To keep the sound quality the same for the whole album I included the re-recorded version. I did keep the old version but the recording is bad and our timing is off at times. Here it is anyway, for the ones interested.
